How to begin?

I've always loved playing these games but I can't seem to come up with a good structure to make my own. Any suggestions?

You can always just participate in some. Read some of the stuff we do here, then try to make your own. Creative writing isnt that hard once you get the hang of it.

What if we wanted to do something in the style of Race to 2012? Obviously not that, but something where we just went with popular vote for actions and all that? I'm just unsure of where to toss it, 'cause it's not really a "pen and paper" kind of deal.
