Re: Adventures in a foreign land
since you do not know the strength of the bandit force you take your whole, small troupe with you letting the swordsmen scout ahead around 50 meters.

Re: Adventures in a foreign land
We are 7 people... the whole army is the scout, so I say b, despite there's probably an ambush. Just advance carefully.

Re: Adventures in a foreign land
Standing atop a hill, your scout spots the enemy, about 100 metres in front of the hill. They are rabble, disorganised, hardly worth killing. However you did promise.
There are 10 bandits that your scout can see, They haven't spotted you yet. You have a clear advantage, how will you proceed?
> Lure the enemy into an ambush at the hill, Using archers at the top, Spear-men defending the bottom and your two swordsman flanking the enemy.
> Meet the enemy in an open field battle, (March out to meet them)
> (Insert your strategy here)

Re: Adventures in a foreign land
stay hidden, have the archers kill off as many bandits as they can, then move in and kill off the rest.

Re: Adventures in a foreign land
Well since we have those archers let's use them. Keep the archers on the top shooting at the bandits, defended by the spearmen who are 10 meters forward. Our man and the swordman remain next to the archers, ready to act if anything unexpected happens.

Re: Adventures in a foreign land
You position your archers at the top of the hill, hiding your spearmen in the trees ahead, waiting to ambush the bandits. Before the battle begins, do you have any last words to say to your men?
Do you wish to have a battle cry?
> Yes
>No

"Gentlemen, remember to keep your positions and follow our plan. With our superior discipline and organization we will butcher those ragtag bandits like Suetonius defeated a 10 times bigger army of barbarians. Let's do our job!"

Re: Adventures in a foreign land
You pass the message around your men, "Gentlemen, remember to keep your positions and follow our plan. With our superior discipline and organization we will butcher those ragtag bandits like Suetonius defeated a 10 times bigger army of barbarians. Let's do our job! Leeroy Jenkins is what we will yell when we attack"
And with that, you give the order to fire.
Your two archers have time to fire off two volleys. Three of which miss, the fourth being deadly. You make a mental note to have them practice, as you watch the arrows fall.
The enemy bandits are now 9. And they have reached the treeline, Do you..
> Order the Spearmen to attack now
> Wait until they are past the Spearmen, letting them hit them from behind rather than the side?

Re: Adventures in a foreign land
"LEEEEERROOOOOOOYYYYYYY JENKINS" Your spear-men shout as they erupt from the bush, This shout scares the Bandits and catches them unaware. Your three spear-men manage to kill four bandits between them. One man even skewering two bandits in a single thrust.
Your archers fire off another volley, killing two bandits this time.
There are only 3 bandits left, Will you:
>Join the battle with the swordsman
> Maintain your current strategy and let the spear-men finish off the job?

Re: Adventures in a foreign land
You tell your archers to hold fire, you lock eyes with the swordsman at your side and nod. Yelling your battle cry at the top of your lungs, you run down to join the battle. Your spear-men see you coming and fall back into the bush, this is your fight!
The three bandits turn to face you. You leap from your high position, burying your blade in the Bandits chest. Looking to your side, you see your swordsman locked in combat with the bandit.
You try to pull your blade out of his chest, but it's stuck. Stupid low-quality swords, don't even work properly. The other bandit approaches you, hefting his club as you look on.

Re: Adventures in a foreign land
You pick up the dead bandits club laying at your feet, the weapon is heavy, unbalanced. It's hard to use and you're not used to it before the bandit attacks you. You barely manage to block, but you're knocked onto your ass, and the weapon flies out of your hands.
(You've never had mace training)
Your options are now limited,
> Charge him without a weapon, hopefully he won't be able to swing his weapon fast enough and you can tackle him to the ground.
> Signal the archers to fire, however you may be hit

Re: Adventures in a foreign land
You roll backwards, gaining distance between you and your opponent. You signal the archers to fire.
3 rolls: If one roll lands between 25 and 75, Your attack is a success and the bandit is put to half health.
If 0 is rolled, you are hit by an arrow in the neck, if 100 is rolled, The bandit is hit by all 3 arrows and is instantly killed.

Re: Adventures in a foreign land
Your feint is a success and the bandit is killed. With two arrows sticking out of his chest, he falls to his knees and to the side. Your "partner", the other swordsman disarms his opponent in a flurry of blows and beheads the bandit.
Congratulations, you have killed the bandits. What now?
